Grandparents Day

This past Saturday we celebrated Grandparents Day by taking my mom to Whalon Lake in Bolingbrook, along with Jen, Noah, and Claire. Whalon Lake has a large lake where you can fish, kayak, boat, etc. and then there is also a nice dog park there. There is also a little trail and an area you can picnic at. We packed a picnic lunch and got off to a rocky start....
Holy cow!! Welcome to the wonderful world of being 2! I am not even sure what Mia was so worked up about, but she pitched a fit pretty much the whole time we were eating. Yikes! I was ready to call Cort (he was finishing up Saturday detention) and ship Mia back home for a nap, but she recovered nicely with the help of Noah and his fine dancing as you can see...

Next we headed over to the dog area where we gawked at all the dogs and got to pet a few going in and out of the dog park. Mia of course loved that! I had to laugh because this metal dog sculpture thing was on the outside gate and both the kids were petting it like it was a real dog or something.

A little game of chase got started

Despite the rocky start, it was a beautiful day and we had a great time hanging out, eating, and walking around. The kids enjoyed seeing my mom and are so lucky to have such a fun, kind, giving grandma in their lives. :)
