Recently Mia had Spring Pictures at School.  Considering Spring Pictures were in February when it was rather cold (and not very Spring-like), we recycled her Christmas dress and cardigan (her choice).  Here she is...

Making Books

Recently I helped out my school for a 1st grade literacy night.  One of the stations we had were these cute little build-a-book sets.  We had a bunch left over so I grabbed 2 for my kids to do.  They had so much fun with the gluing, making pictures out of the foam shapes, and coloring/writing in them.  Here they are hard at work...

I swear we do not hang around in pajamas all day, we are just often slow to get moving.  :)

Pam's Oscar Party

Recently Pam decided to have an Oscar party.  I was all about it since Cort and I had actually seen a bunch of the movies up for Best Picture (we had just see "The Artist" about a week before).  Once I knew she was having the party I thought it would be hilarious to show up in my old prom dress (a long, sequined gold dress, haha!) as a joke since I would resemble an Oscar.  It was quite the hit and got many laughs as people walked in the door.  Once the Oscars started, I slipped into my normal wardrobe-jeans and a hoodie.  :)  Pam did a great job hosting and had an Oscar prediction game and Oscar bingo.  It was a great time!

Maddox's 1st Birthday

I know I've said it before, but I am so fortunate that many of my friends today are the same friends I had back when I was 12-13 years old and attending Jefferson Jr. High (20+ years ago-aaaaggghhh!!!).  It is so crazy that we now have children that are play and attend birthday parties together.  Recently Marina's son Maddox turned 1.  We headed into the city for his birthday party and I have to say, Marina outdid herself with all the cute Dr. Suess themed decorations.  I really did not do the best job taking pictures that day, but I did manage to get a few.

Valentine's Day

Can I just say I love Valentine's day?  I don't know what it is, but in my ranking of holidays, it is follows closely behind Halloween (which follows closely behind Christmas).  As I am typing this, I am beginning to think I just like holidays.  :)

Anyhow, there is something about the box-making, the excitement about both giving and getting valentines, and those fabulous conversation hearts that I just love.  This year the kids were really into it and both thoroughly enjoyed making their Valentine boxes for school, as well as helping me make their home-made valentines.  I had to stop at the DMV right after school on Valentine's Day and I made sure to tell Cort not to let the kids start going through their boxes until I got home.  :) 

I tried to make the day fun for the kids with some heart-shaped food throughout the day and a "fancy" Valentine's dinner at our "fancy" table (aka Dining Room-and dad cooked dinner!).  Since my birthday is so close to Vday, Cort and I use Valentine's Day as a day to celebrate with the kids and then we celebrate my bday and vday together another night on our own.  You know the day was fun when the kids are asking when Valentine's Day is coming next.  :)
