First Zoo Trip of '08

One of my favorite places to go with Mia is to the Brookfield Zoo since she is such an animal lover. Today was supposed to be the best day of the week, so Cort and I headed out with Mia as soon as she was done with her morning nap. The first place we went was to see the bears, and right away we bumped into Nicole, Mrs. D and the kids. They were all excited to see one another. :)
After that, we went to the petting zoo where Mia could visit her beloved goats. I have to say though, that she actually seemed more excited to see the chickens this year than the goats.

Yes, I know, but she really does love animals

After hitting a couple other exhibits, we headed off to the Living Coast to end the day. Mia has had a thing for birds lately (maybe that is why she was loving the chickens???), so she really liked seeing the penguins and all the other birds flying around there.

I thought this was cute of Cort and Mia, so I tried it in black and white too.
On the way home traffic was terrible. We saw a lot of black smoke ahead, so we turned on the radio to hear that there was a really bad accident where a tanker overturned and started on fire. Here is what we saw when we drove by the Lemont Road exit.
