Brookfield Zoo--Christmas Break

Over Christmas break one of the things we decided to do was take the kids to the Brookfield Zoo.  Cort and I love the zoo in the winter.  Why?  There are less crowds, easy parking, and we get to see things we don't always get to see by visiting the indoor exhibits.  Of course we hit one of our favorites-the Hamill Family Play Zoo.  If you haven't ever checked that out, you really should.  It is perfect for kids and there is so much to do in just that one building.  We have been there so many times and yet the kids still love it.

Here is Mia pretending to be a bird in her "nest" with her "wings" and eggs
Cole was excited to be digging through a case with turtles (fake, not real)

Cole was really into this project-making an animal frame, it was really neat to see how engaged he was

They were just getting ready to take down this giant gingerbread house-it was very impressive!
Here you can read more about it
This greenhouse is one of my favorite rooms in the play zoo.  Cort and I love to sit in here and breathe the air, it is just so clean and fresh.  :)  The kids love to water all the plants.

The kids love to paint their faces while they are there too.  Here is a picture to prove I was at the zoo that day.  :)
 So cute!!

The finished product-I think she was some sort of cat  :)

Not quite sure what animal Cole was  :)

Love the penguins!  They were really active that day.
